Whether you're an experienced marathoner or tackling the distance for the first time, this event promises to be an unforgettable experience.

The marathon starts and finishes in the picturesque market town of Tavistock (the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake) and winds its way through the breathtaking Dartmoor National Park.

Expect smooth roads, challenging hills, and spectacular views of rugged terrain as you pass iconic Dartmoor landmarks, including Princetown and the historic Dartmoor Prison. The course also takes you around the tranquil Burrator Reservoir, where the only interruptions may be curious Dartmoor ponies!

The Dartmoor Marathon is proudly organised by Dave Chanter, founder of the Tavistock Run Project (TRP). Since 2013, TRP has been dedicated to supporting runners of all abilities, fostering community spirit, and developing athletic talent. Under Dave’s leadership, TRP has grown into a thriving club known for its athlete-centred ethos and commitment to making running accessible and enjoyable for all.

Complimentary entries for the 2026 Dartmoor Marathon are available for athletes who meet these times:

Men: 2:20:00 - Women: 2:48:00

Meeting these times (achieved after January 1, 2024) doesn’t guarantee entry, as spots are limited and awarded at the organisers’ discretion.
